The lock for securing a ski boot, uses a locking screw which pulls together the edges of an intermediate layer of leather (5) near the toe. The boot upper terminates in a horizontal part (2) enclosing a foam layer (3) with the intermediate layer between them. The locking screw has an inner threaded part (28) with external threads which are oppositely handed to the threads on an outer part (26). These pass through internally threaded holes in bars (10) attached to the edges of the leather inner. The locking screw has a finger grip (39) and this can be combined with a quick release incorporated with the screw. This includes a spring (37) between the edges.
