A series of holes are drilled at set intervals, and gaps between them are simultaneously removed, to make slits in the ground. These slits are used for reducing vibrations in the vicinity of explosive charges or large machines; or in dry dock and similar wall construction. A new hole is drilled near an existing guiding hole, and a slit adapter (1) is fastened to the drill bar of a standard drilling machine. This has a hollow following member (2), moved in the guide hole, and a drill bar guide connected to this. Dust and debris are sucked away by a pipe at the top of the member. Radial force exerted against the partition between holes is not counteracted, and partitions can be more or less completely broken down, initially.
