White or colour discharge printing of synthetic fibre (esp. polyester) textiles dyed or impregnated with dispersion dyes is carried out by (a) applying a printing paste contg. H2O, thickeners, other additives and a cpd. (I) which solubilises the dispersion dyes at elevated temps. without attacking the synthetic fibres under thermosol conditions, and (b) heat treating the printed textile. The process gives a readily controllable uniform whitening effect (or colour change) and is applicable to a wide range of dispersion dyes. |
