<UnorderedLists id="ula01" listStyle="none"><ListItem>R<Sub>2</Sub> stands for hydrogen or a C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>6</Sub> normal alkyl, C<Sub>3</Sub>-C<Sub>6</Sub> cycloalkyl, C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>6</Sub> hydroxyalkyl, C<Sub>3</Sub>-C<Sub>6</Sub> hydroxycycloalkyl, phenyl, benzyl, morpholinoethyl, N-methylpyrrolidinoethyl, or fluorobenzoylpropyl radical, R<Sub>4</Sub> stands for hydrogen or a C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>3</Sub> alkyl or phenyl radical, R<Sub>5</Sub> stands for hydrogen or a C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>6</Sub> alkyl, C<Sub>3</Sub>-C<Sub>6</Sub> cycloalkyl, acetyl, benzyl or 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl radical, or when R<Sub>4</Sub> and R<Sub>5</Sub> are alkyl they may be joined to form, togeth- erwith the adjacent ring atoms of the pyrroloquinoline nucleus, a 5-, 6- or 7-membered ring, and R<Sub>x</Sub> and Ry, which may be the same or different, stand for hydrogen or a halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl, C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>6 </Sub>alkyl, C<Sub>3</Sub>-C<Sub>6</Sub> cycloalkyl, C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>3</Sub> alkoxy,C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>3</Sub> alkylthio, hydroxy or cyano radical, or when R<Sub>x</Sub> and Ry are alkoxy linked to adjacent ring carbon atoms they may be combined to form a methylenedioxy (-OCH<Sub>2</Sub>0-) or ethylenedioxy (-OCH<Sub>2</Sub>CH<Sub>2</Sub>0-) radical, and acid addition salts thereof. Processes for the preparation of said pyrroloquinoline derivatives. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising one of said pyrroloquinoline derivatives together with a suitable diluent or carrier.
