<p>A self-venting battery is disclose herein and includes a casing, two terminals and an assembly of components located within the casing for producing a voltage drop across the terminals. An insulator is provided between and bonded to these terminals for electrically insulating them from one another. This insulator is constructed such that increasing pressure within the casing will cause the insulator to crack a sufficient amount to vent the pressure in the casing before causing the bond between the insulator and terminals to fail.</p> |
