PURPOSE:To raise the precision of the scanning for detection of surface flaw, to facilitate the design and manufacture of the device and to raise the efficiency of the inspection by using an ordinary truncated conical cone roller and universal joint in combination with each other. CONSTITUTION:The spherical body 1 to be inspected is supported by a driving roller 4 and cone rollers 5 and 5', the roller 4 rotates at equal speed in the direction of an arrow C, the rollers 5 and 5' have the same size and are formed into truncated conical cones, the universal joints 6 and 6' are fitted to the ends of shafts of the respective rotary shafts 7 and 7' with the divergence in phase at an angle of 90 deg., and the joints 6 and 6' are driven at equal speed in the direction of arrows D and D' by input shafts 61 and 61'. As a result, the rollers 5 and 5' repeat the cycles of low- speed and high-speed rotations alternately, the spherical body 1 rotates on its own axis round the axis X, while the meridian line intersecting the axis X at right angles turns round in one direction, and thus the inspection of minute flaws on the whole surface of the spherical body becomes possible by means of a projector and photoreceiver 2 and 3 and a scanning photoelectric transducing means. |
