PURPOSE:To obtain a component of Ganoderma lucidum Karst useful as a hypotensor, etc., by extracting Ganoderma lucidum Karst with a proper amount of water under heating, concentrating the water extracted solution at low temperature, followed by separating the component containing fucose, fructose and glucose, having a molecular weight not less than a specific value, from the concentrated solution. CONSTITUTION:A fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum Karst is extracted with about 15 times as much water as the fruiting body. The water extracted solution from which the insoluble component is removed is concentrated at low temperature from room temperature to about 50 deg.C to give a concentrated solution, from which a component having a molecular weight not less than 100,000, containing at least fucose, fructose, and glucose as constituent saccharoses is separated and collected. The component has the maxima of infrared absorption spectrum at 3,450, 3,000, 1,740, 1,380, 1,200 and 1,030cm<-1> and the maxima of ultraviolet absorption spectrum at about 257nm., positive to Fehling's reagent, phenolsulfuric acid reagent, buret reagent, ninhydrin reagent, and quasipositive to phenylhydrazine, anthrone-sulfuric acid reagent, reagent of Liebermann-Burchard reaction, and ferric chloride reagent. The component decomposes at about 123 deg.C and pH of 1wt% aqueous suspension is about 4.5. |
