PURPOSE:To measure the distribution of the area of projection at a high speed and thus perform the measurement of the distribution of grain sizes of collected numerous granular substances by applying real-time processing, by means of a hardware, to video signals of a static image picked up by a TV camera. CONSTITUTION:The video signals of the TV camera 1 picking up a collected substances are made to correspond to a part where the image of the substances exists and to a part where no image thereof exists in a binary valuation circuit 5, and the outputs thereof are supplied to a plurality of unit-image area measuring circuits 61-6n provided with a time-counting circuit 60a which measures the time length of an image pulse corresponding to the part of existence and issues a vidi signal which continues for a longer period than one horizontal scanning cycle after the measurement is started and with a pulse generating circuit 60b which delivers a gate pulse continuing for a shorter time than one horizontal scanning cycle. And, these outputs are controlled by an image-identifying circuit 31 and the data processing is applied thereto by a classifying device 8. Accordingly, the distribution of the area of projection can be obtained at a high speed through the real-time processing without using a memory of large capacity. |
