<p>Blanked out sheets of woodpulp, leather, artificial leather, leather and synthetic fibres, etc., for the prodn. of inner soles, are set in moulds giving the desired lengthways profile. The blanks are retained in the moulds until the injected synthetic material has stabilised and the moulds have holding fingers which determined the run of the sheet in the mould, and form cavities which are filled by the synthetic resin. The blanking tool, in addn. to forming the profile of the sole may also cut out a tongue inclined towards the heel which may be removed completely, and this cavity also is filled with the resin. Metal inserts may be placed in the mould and embedded in the prod. Arrangement reduces the number of operations necessary for inner sole prodn. and minimises transfer and rectifying work. Soles are formed with the plastic or sheet material showing at the different outside surfaces, dependent upon whether the sheet has to be glued or not.</p> |
