The motor provides a reciprocating drive, typically for a diaphragm pump. The rotor (2) has a hollow shaft inside which, and coaxial with the rotational axis, is a non-rotating rod (18). This rod is attached to the apparatus to be driven, for example the diaphragm (21) of a pump. An eccentric disc and bearing translate the rotary motion of the shaft into reciprocating motion of the rod. The rotor shaft end carries a bearing assembly (14,16) inclined at an angle, typically 15 degrees, to the axis of the shaft. A plate (23) carrying a bearing ball (25) is attached to the rod (18). The ball follows the face of the inclined bearing assembly to produce the desired motion necessary to deflect the diaphragm.
|
