<p>There is a fixed clamp in a holder, with a cross opening to allow the sliver to pass through to the spinning machine. A section of the wall in the opening acts as a bearing surface for the clamp. There is a push rod lined up with the bearing surface, held back in the open position to allow the sliver to pass through, but which nips the sliver against the bearing surface when it has to be clamped. The system gives a small, robust and easily-cleaned unit, which is cheaply mfd., and which does not damage the sliver.</p> |
