<p>Apparatus for use in the slicing and packing of foodstuffs, which comprises a first conveyor located adjacent to a slicing machine which conveyor is provided with "jump" facilities to accelerate temporarily the speed of the convenyor so as to separate a shingle produced by the slicing machine into discrete units, a second conveyor to which the conveyor feeds the discrete units, the second conveyor being operable at a higher speed than the first conveyor so as to increase the linear distance between said discrete units separated by the temporary acceleration of the first conveyor, and a third conveyor to which the second conveyor then feeds the discrete units and means for feeding carriers to the third conveyor, thereby each discrete unit is deposited onto a carrier.</p> |
