摘要 A lubricant composition comprises a lubricant and a polyamine additive which has been prepared by reacting a halogen-containing hydrocarbon having at least 25 carbon atoms per molecule with a compound containing at least two -NH2, -NHR or NR2 groups, where R is an alkyl group in the presence of a hydrogen halide acceptor which differs both from the starting polyamine and the polyamine formed. The additives described are prepared from (1) polyisobutenyl chloride and tetraethylene pentamine, N,N - dimethyl - 1,3 - diaminopropane or polyethyleneimine and (2) a chlorinated ethylene-propylene copolymer and tetraethylene pentamine.ALSO:A halogen-containing hydrocarbon having at least 25 carbon atoms per molecule is reacted with a polyamine as herein after defined in the presence of a hydrogen halide acceptor which differs both from the starting polyamine and the polyamine formed and the resulting additive is incorporated in a lubricant composition. Specified halogen-containing compounds are chlorinated homopolymers of ethylene, propylene, butylene and isobutylene and chlorinated ethylene-propylene copolymers. The polyamine is a compound containing at least two -NH2 groups or -NHR or -NR2 groups where R denotes an alkyl group e.g. polyalkylene polyamines, diamines e.g. diaminoethane, 1,2-diaminopropene, 1,3-diaminopropane and the diamino butanes and cyclic polyamines. The hydrogen halide acceptor may be a carbonate, bicarbonate, oxide, hydroxide or amine or a salt of an organic acid e.g. alkali metal and alkalene earth metal salts thereof. In examples chlorinated polyisobutylenes are heated with toluene and K2CO3 and treated with tetraethylene pentamine or, N,N-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropane or alternatively heated with n-butanol, water and polyethyleneimine and treated with K2CO3 and toluene. In example V a chlorinated ethylene-propylene copolymer, xylene and potassium powder are added to a solution of tetraethylene pentamine in xylene, the product being isolated using mineral oil.
