Pipework model tracer for machine tool programming - uses triple axis tracer with head rotation and computing device to allow programmable detection from minium data

The machine has the control data entered electrically from a three axis (X,Y,Z) mechanism which is used to manually trace the form of a model of the required pipe configuration. A computing device is included in the electric network so the model tracer head (6) need only be positioned at extremes of linear portions of the pipework and the spatial coordinates electrically measured and recorded. At bends an angular rotation of the tracing head is recorded, along with the spatial coordinates at the commencement of the bend. Pref. each device for the orientation of the support comprises two coaxial which are rotatable relative to each other and held together by elastic couplings via ball bearings which are partially lodged in cavities on the plates.
