New catalysts comprise (a) 100 pts. wt. of a support, (b) 0.05-0.6 (pref. 0.1-0.5) pts. wt. of a Pt-group metal, (c) 0.01-4 (pref. 0.1-0.3) pts. wt. of W, (d) 0.005-5 (pref. 0.02-3, esp. 0.05-2) pts. wt. of at least one metal selected from Cu, Ag and Au, and (e) 0.1-15 pts. wt. halogen. The catalysts are esp. useful for high-severity reforming or atomizing in a reaction system comprising a series of mobile-bed reactors. They can also be used for hydrocracking, isomerisation and dealkylation. Components (c) and (d) improve selectivity in reforming and atomizing processes by suppressing hydrocracking.
