The digging device is for multi-rowed beet harvesters. It has side-pivotable shares with share plates which can be moved up and down by an oscillatory drive. Digging shares have a share holder (7) each carrying two share plates (5) and pivotable about a vertical axis (2). This vertical axis (2) is arranged on a bearing section (18) which pivots about a horizontal axis (17). The oscillatory drive (20) engages on the bearing section.
