Mechanical interlock for detonator capsule - has rotor held by interlock to prevent movement that is released by firing detonator

The mechanical interlock used to prevent motion of a component is actuated and released by the triggering of a detonator capsule. A rotor (1) is supported on a central shaft and carries an interlock in the form of a metal strip (6,4) that is inset into a groove in the rotor. A projecting section of the strip is also located in a groove (7) in the housing to prevent movement of the rotor. An electrically activated detonator (10) has a connecting tube (8) that projects into the housing groove. When the detonator is triggered, gas pressure builds up in the tube to compress the strip to allow the rotor to turn.
