2-Phenylindole derivatives

The new derivatives correspond to the formula <IMAGE> in which the meaning of the symbols is given in Claim 1. They can be prepared either by reacting an acetophenone derivative, the methyl group of which is replaced by a chloromethyl group, with aniline or by converting an acetophenone derivative to the phenylhydrazone and by cyclising the said phenylhydrazone. The compounds of formula I are mainly useful as stabilising agents for thermoplastic materials.
