The clamp has a fixed jaw (1) fixed to a support bracket (14). A threaded bolt (9) projects from the fixed jaw and passes through a tapped hole in the sliding jaw (2). The sliding jaw (2) is supported in a channel section guide (5) with an end cap (11) which supports the free end of the bolt (9). The crest diameter of the thread (12) in the sliding jaw is larger than the crest diameter of the thread of the bolt. This enables the jaw to slide over the bolt when the force of the locking spring (6) is overcome by pressing on the serrated thumb grip (12).
