The accumulator has two metal portions (1,2) which are welded together. The vessel formed contains a flexible membrane (3) and the top of the vessel is fitted with a valve (4) used for filling the top part of the accumulator with gas. The lower part has an outlet opening (5). The membrane is fixed to the metal container by vulcanisation onto a ring. The outer edge of the ring is included in the welded seam. The welded seam may be butt or lap welded with the ring trapped under the edge of the lap.
