The upper half of the diffuser/duct is constructed from sound attenuating material (4) covered in an aluminium backing sheet (5). The material is formed into an inverted U-shape. The lower half of the duct is constructed from sheet metal in the form of a matching U-shape which overlaps the top half to form a complete duct (3). The overlapping edges are covered with adhesive strip (12). Two rows (13,14) of outlet holes are drilled or punched along the length of the diffuser. The area between the two rows of holes may be covered in sound attenuating material (15) and a division plate (16) can be located in slots (17,18) in order to give the duct extra strength and rigidity. The forming of the holes can be varied to suit the type of diffuser required.
