An expansion joint assembly for insertion into wet concrete comprises a flanged boxsection rubber tube 18 having crimped-on metal strips 11, 12 provided with anchoring loops 27 'and flanges 14. The assembly is held compressed by tie wires 26 which are cut after hand-finishing the concrete. In a modification dispensing with the need for hand-finishing, the assembly includes a removable top strip of compressible sponge, Figs 3, 6 (not shown), which produces straight concrete margins as it expands after the passing of a machine float. |
