The spring brake cylinder vent system is partic. for a vehicle braking system, having a piston working in a cylinder between pressure and spring chambers. On venting the pressure chamber a valve connects the latter with the spring chamber. A receiver on the side of the piston towards the chamber is filled with the medium under pressure when the latter is pressurised. A vent valve in the piston opens when the pressure chamber is vented, so as to connect the receiver and the spring chamber.
