Masonry drill bit - has tungsten carbide inserts brazed in slots open in radial and axial directions

The bit is for use in a rotary and/or impact drill esp. for rock or masonry and has two or more radial cutting edges on separate tungsten carbide inserts, together with a centring edge if desired. The inserts are in the form of small plates, welded or brazed into recesses in the bit head. Each recess is formed by a slot open in the radial and axial directions, the base (9) of which runs from the axial to the radial cutting edge and at an increasing distance in the radial direction from the bit axis. Each insert (3) has a portion (5) shaped to fit in the recess slot.
