PURPOSE:To surely and easily perform the works of filling gas into a tube and sealing the tube after an arrangement of the nonsealed tube in an enclosed vessel, by filling gas into the enclosed vessel at a desired pressure then restrictively irradiating a beam of light amplified by stimulated emission of radiation (laser) to a sealed portion of the tube from a window of the enclosed vessel. CONSTITUTION:On the upper portion of an insulated tube 13 permeable for light like a material of alumina, a niobium cap 19, to which an electrode 20 is mounted, is covered through a glass solder 18, and the insulated tube 13 is arranged in an enclosed vessel 11. After an evacuation of air in the vessel 11 by using a pump 24, gas is introduced from a gas cylinder 23 to fill gas at a desired pressure in the tube 13. Then a beam of light 28 amplified by stimulated emission of radiation (laser) is irradiated from a source 22 of the laser to a portion where the solder glass 18 is internally equipped through a window part 12 of the vessel 11. The tube 13 is irradiated by the laser while being rotated by a support arm 16. While to the periphery of the tube 13 a shielding body 15 not permeable for light is arranged to prevent the laser beam from being irradiated to other places than a sealed portion. |
