The temperature variation in the working fluid in electrically heated domestic or commercial space heating radiators is reduced by using dual working fluid circuits. A closed, wedge shaped inner fluid chamber (2) has electric heating elements (18,19,20) passing from end to end, emerging through sealing glands. These elements heat the working fluid (4) directly. The supply to the different heating elements is effected, in preferential order, from the bottom towards the top of the enclosure. Tubes (14,15) pass through the electrically heated fluid to allow working fluid (3) in the second chamber (1) to pass through the directly heated fluid. The inner chamber (2) is finned externally (26,27) to assist heat transfer to the second working fluid. Horizontal inlets and outlets (5,6,7) carry the second working fluid round the room radiators.
|
