PURPOSE:To provide a flame-retardant compsn. which can maintain its expanded state without producing cracking when the compsn. is exposed to flame, consisting of a chlorinated polyethylene, a zinc compd. and at least one member selected from oxides or sulfides of antimony, molybdenum and zirconium. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. consisting of three components of a chlorinated polyethylene alone or a mixt. of the chlorinated polyethylene and a resin compatible therewith, a zinc compd. and at least one member selected from oxides or sulfides of antimony, molybdenum and zirconium is provided. An example of the resin compatible with said chlorinated polyethylene is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. By the mixing of this resin, the mechanical strength and the flexibility of the compsn. can be adjusted and an improvement in the heat resistance can be contemplated. The zinc compd. can promote foaming when the compsn. is exposed to flame and maintains expansion caused by the foaming. Particularly, it is preferred to use zinc carbonate and zinc borate. |
