Solar energy heater for domestic water - has heat pump between absorber fluid and domestic water to increase heat transfer

The solar energy collector (1) contains a fluid (2) which absorbs solar energy. Domestic hot water is kept in a separate storage vessel (8) which has a cold feed connection (9) and a hot water flow (10). The two vessels (1.8) are connected by a refrigerant circuit which has an evaporator coil (3) in the collector vessel (1) and a condenser coil (4) in the domestic water vessel (8). The evaporator and condenser are connected by piping (5,6) in a circuit containing a compressor (7) and an expansion valve (12), to form a heat pump. This eliminates a storage vessel for the absorbing fluid (2) and isolates it completely from the domestic water.
