Roof construction for insulated buildings - having suspended ceiling with fire retardant panels with water retaining sodium silicate inner layer

Roof construction has a normal heat or cold insulating arrangement below which is suspended a cover or ceiling. Ceiling is made from mineral fibre sheets above which an additional sheeting layer is added. Sheeting layer has an inner layer of Na silicate which holds water. This is encapsulated between two layers of non- inflammable or flame retardant plastic such as epoxy resin type material. Sodium silicate layer should contain pref. 25 to 40% H2O. Ceiling protects electrical wiring and other services in the event of a fire in the space below.
