The filter is used for removing dust from large volumes of air in underground mines. The air is sucked in from a long working face of a forward driving area. Use is made of a duct assembly bringing back quantities of air, behind the ventilator. The desired volume of air is pressed back into the area concerned, by more or less throttling. The area is in the form of a duct assembly, pref. of the perforated sheet metal sheath type, sheathing part of the filter. This guarantees safe ventilation in the area of the filtering and ventilating assembly, where gases may emerge.
