Knitting machine lock - controls butts of knitting units, to reduce needle rupture, and increase knitting speed

A lock for a knitting machine controls the knitting units, including needles, sinker plates and push-bars, each of which may have )=1 butt, by means of several drawing elements acting on the butts of the units and drawing element ramps having a negative slope. Each drawing element is associated with a counter guide element having an impact zone for the butts of the knitting units controlled by the drawing elements and all the impact zones have positive slopes in relation to the drawing ramps. The lock of the invention reduces the possibility of needle rupture, and allows high knitting speeds to be obtd. The device may be used on flat knitting machines. or rotary lock cages or rotary neddle cylinders on circular machines, esp. on wide circular machines of >=20". It is partic. useful on the wide machines having as many as 144 feeds, and on Interlock machines.
