<p>A method of assembling a recombinant battery includes forming a cell pack (14) of positive and negative plates interleaved with microfine glass fibre separator material. The cell pack is placed in a plastics bag (18) and compressed so as to press the plates and separator material into intimate contact. The cell pack is then wetted with electrolyte and the compressive force removed. The cell pack maintains its compressed thickness and is inserted into a battery container (10). </p> |
