The multiple wire heart stimulator consists of six wires wound around a common centre in helical form, the first pair making an angle of 32 degrees to the normal of the helix, the second pair making an angle of 16 degrees and the third pair of 8 degrees. In cross-section each wire (e.g. 12a) consists of an insulation layer (14a) of polyurethane, Teflon (RTM) or similar and internal soldered wires (16.1,16.2,...16.6) of MP35N alloy. (RTM). The alloy wires are embedded in a silver matrix (16.7) which fills the central section. The composition of the MP35N alloy is approximately 25% Ni, 35% Co, 20% Cr and 10% Mo. The central internal diameter of the coil is the same for each of the helically wound wires. |
