PURPOSE:To attain efficiency by reducing the capacity of a memory unit by predetermining a read area on an original and then by storing only picture element information in the area. CONSTITUTION:On plate 2, original 3 is mounted and with light from lamp 4, the picture of the original is supplied to line sensor 8 consisting of CCD image sensors by way of reflex mirrors 5 and 6 and scanning lens 7. To read area 3a on original 3, picture data from the sensor are counted by RAM103 when an operation signal is supplied from CPU22 to image sensor circuit 105 and the contents of RAM103 are transferred to RAM102 when the count value reaches a fixed value. Therefore, only the picture data in area 3a are stored in RAM102 and data of other parts are invalidated. |
