Carrier bag with reinforced handle part or hanger part and process for the production thereof

A carrier bag or shopping bag made of plastic contains a reinforced handle part (10) having a wave shape. A reinforcing tape (11) extends over the handle part but does not reach as far as the upper edge (9) of the film-like bag material. It is thereby avoided that the weld seams for the lateral edges (4, 5) have to extend over material of non-uniform wall thickness. Such carrier bags are produced in the manner that a flat plastic tube is provided on both sides with a reinforcing strip. Then cuts with a cyclically repeating wave shape are made through the reinforcing strips and the tube material, the wavelength corresponding to the width of the carrier bag in the opening region and the wave amplitude being greater than the width of the reinforcing strips.
