[Also in Division H1] A device for metering an additive into a liquid stream comprises a chamber 8 within which is a bladed rotor 11 which produces pulses at a frequency proportional to the flow rate of the stream through the chamber, the pulses activating a pump to meter a fixed quantity of additive to the chamber through conduits 7, 20 on receipt of each pulse. As described the blade wheel activates a switch (19, Fig. 3 not shown) once or more times per revolution, through a magnetic coupling (15, 16). The device may be used for adding phosphates to water supply mains.</p> |
