PURPOSE:To make possible continuous emission operation of extremely short periods by forming the charging circuit of a commutation capacitor by switching element which controls the emission time of a flash discharge tube. CONSTITUTION:When a trigger 5 operates after a main discharging capacitor 2 and a commutation capacitor 8 are charged by a boosting circuit 1, a main switching element 4 goes ON, causing a flash discharge tube 3 to emit light. When a flash inhibit signal is applied to a terminal 11 after this, a trigger 10 operates and an auxiliary switching element 9 is turned ON by the output thereof, and this causes the discharge tube 3 to stop emitting light. During the process of this operation, a trigger 13 for charging signal operates to cause an auxiliary switching element 14 to conduct, so that a gate signal is applied to the element 4. Hence, a series circuit consisting of the element 14, capacitor 8 and element 4 is connected across the capacitor 2 to instantaneously charge the capacitor 8 and this completes the preparation for next emission. |
