<p>The retaining system uses a number of magnetic elements surgically implanted beneath the scalp and opposing elements spaced around the inside of the toupe base. The latter comprises a flexible artificial fibre web with inherent elasticity allowing it to conform exactly to the surface configuration of the wearer's skull and having the same colour as the scalp. Pref. the magnetic elements comprise magnetic alloy discs of 1.5 mm dia., the alloy pref. based on cobalt and a rare earth metal. Their dia. is pref. between 1.2 and 1.5 mm and they are magnetised in a direction perpendicular to their major surfaces.</p> |
