<p>The connector is used to join the separate lengths of a floating anti-pollution barrier. The clamps are fixed over the total height of the barrier but are separated by a space of several centimetres. This gives the assembly a degree of flexibility. The clamp comprises two rigid plates (3,4) which are bolted together to form a double-sided clamp which grips the edges of the floating barrier in the jaws (2a,3a). The plates (3,4) are covered with flexible sheets (8,9) which form a continuous seal with the barrier and prevent ingress of foreign matter as well as protecting the clamps and preventing them from becoming hooked onto surrounding obstacles during launching and retrieval.</p> |
