The height adjustable MacPherson strut for a car has the upper support plate (10) for the coil spring, and the support shaft (12) height adjustable inside the rubber braced mounting on the body. The support plate is held by spacers (3,6) one of which is threaded inside the inner sleeve of the rubber mounting. The strut is easily adjustable to suit the driving conditions. It provides a universal fitting for a wide range of cars, with different insert sleeves providing the different settings. In the raised position the support plate is braced against a fixed plate.
