To protective cover is particularly for articles of clothing, comprising sections of plastic sheet sealed along the ends and with an insertion opening. The opening runs in the lengthwise direction of the sheet and has two overlapping edges, which come to lie between the lengthwise axis of the sheet and its lateral fold line. The sheet can be of polyethylene, polypropylene, or a copolymer of the two, with a thickness between 10 and 120 microns, and there can be an opening (T) in the top edge through which the hook of a clothes hanger can be passed.
