The domestic appliance, esp. dish washer (10), has a door which is made in several parts. The door (12) has an inner layer (13) to which a frame (14) is joined, and a door plate (15). The door (12) is mounted on the appliance above a recess (16) in the base and flaps up and down on a horizontal axle (17). The door plate (15) is hinged directly to the inner layer (13) parallel to the axle along an edge (21) which is the one away from the door mounting. That edge (20) next to the base is supported on the appliance (18) near the recess (16).
