The instrument has a keyboard comprising ten digits and a number of facility keys. These keys are employed to enter telephone numbers and other data, first into the display panel (6), and subsequently into the memory. The facility keys also enable the recall of data to the display, and the automatic selection of numbers displayed to make a connection. Additional facilities provided enable the display of time and date, call duration, and call cost. They also permit the programming of a reminder facility whereby audible warning is given of a promised call back time, and the number to be called entered into the display ready for use. A key switch (16) may be incorporated to lock the instrument off when it is unattended, or to initiate recording of outgoing call numbers, their time and cost for subsequent examination. The facilities are available with the use of a simple keyboard which takes up little space.
