Metallurgical formed coke was prepared in an indirectly heated chamber oven by coking briquets of powder coals bonded by pitch. The size of the briquets is related to the breadth of the coking oven by the formula k = 0.5 Ob/VbX(1-e)B, where Ob and Vb represent the surface and volume of the briquet respectively, B the breadth of the oven, and e the porosity of the loose coal mixture. The coking is carried out at 1100-1300≦̸C for briquets with weight 135 gr, volume 120cm3, and surface 124cm2.
