<p>A smooth lubricating coating is applied to steel parts to prevent those parts in an electrical precipitation apparatus becoming covered by the accumulation of particulate matter thereon, by cleaning the parts and then penetrating the parts with a liquid suspension comprising between 5% and 25% sub micron sized (e.g. 2 Angstrom units or less) particles of graphite by weight, between 2% to 10% by weight concentrated hydrochloric acid, between 15% to 20% by weight water, and at least one of the following: (a) 34%-75% by weight of a solution of water and sodium silicate, with the sodium silicate present at about 40% of the solution, (b) 33%-75% by weight of a solution of water and a water soluble resin (e.g. a carboxy vinyl polymer), the resin being present in amounts between 1% to 10% of the solution, and (c) 33%-75% by weight of a solution of water and xanthan gum wherein the gum is present in amounts between 1% to 10% of the solution. s</p> |
