A load-carrying vehicle body having a floor plate, an upright front panel at the front of the floor plate and an upright side panel at each of the two sides of the floor plate. A stiffening spine extends longitudinally along the centre of the floor plate. The stiffening spine is in the form of an inverted trough structure and is welded to the upper surface of the floor plate.
