NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R is H, halogen or lower alkyl). USE:A germicide and acaricide for a plant, e.g. barley, tobacco, a fruit tree, a vegetable and a petalous plant, without toxicity. PROCESS:A microorganism, e.g. Streptoverticillium rimofaciens 1FO 13592 (FERM- P No.2549), capable of producing mildiomycin is incubated in a culture medium containing preferably 0.03-0.5% (w/v) a compound of formula II (R' is H, halogen, lower alkyl or hydroxymethyl), e.g. cytosine, at 24-34 deg.C for 4-14 days by the submerged culture method with aeration to give a compound of formula I wherein R is R'. |
