<p>Ferromagnetic component orienting mechanism, used in production for orienting, faulty component ejection, sorting, assembly and loading, has improved reliability and productivity. This is achieved by the open rectangular shaped electromagnet being horizontal and having an additional coil determining the oriented position. The coil connects through an amplifier to the electromagnet feed unit. The component feed chute in the zone between the electromagnet poles has a ramp and the spring-loaded platform is of ferromagnetic material and offset from the orientation zone towards the direction of flow of components. The flat ferromagnetic components are fed by vibrating chute (1) to orienting zone. The alternating magnetic field vibrates platform (3) and the nearest component A is attracted, repelling the component B. The component briefly breaks contact with the electromagnet and its longer side then closes the poles. As component rotation occurs its diagonal passes through a position parallel to chute (1) axis at which point component A and the front end is raised to close the poles of electromagnet (2). Additional coil (4) voltage rises rapidly and the signal is used to de-energise the electromagnet.
