<p>The support plate (2) is used to locate and secure a workpiece during diverse machine tool operations, to accommodate different angular relationships. It uses bolt-pins (6,7) to locate the piece and clamps, using drilled holes (2c) to locate individual pins. A plate (2) cantilevers from the base (1), and the holes are precisely positioned normal to the major plate (2) faces. The holes are of a common diameter, are at uniform centres (c,d) in horizontal and vertical lines with alternate horizontal lines half staggered (e), and may be calibrated by reaming and rectification. The pins may have a cylindrical head (6b) providing piece support, waisted to take up journal bearing (6a) in a hole (2c), and may have a threaded tail (6c).</p> |
