A cavity is made in the soil, and a device (7) provided with radially extendable scraper arms (8) at the bottom end is lowered into the overburden-free cavity, an excess pressure being maintained in the cavity. In order to ensure the formation of a pile foot in the desired dimensions especially in soils with considerable water content, the cavity is first of all made down to the lower limit of the space intended for the pile foot, after which mortar (23) is placed in the lower section of the cavity to form the concrete mass for the pile foot, and the device (7) with the scraper arms (8) is lowered, in the course of which, by the extension of the scraper arms (8), the soil material loosened by the latter is mixed with the mortar (23) not yet hardened. <IMAGE>
